Tasting 4/25

In this tasting we switched it up a little bit. Little Rye, Little Bourbon, Little TN Whiskey.

George Dickel 15 Year Store Pick ( 103 Proof ) Lebanon Wine and Spirits

Parker's Heritage 8 Year Rye ( 105 Proof )

Maker's Mark RC6 ( 2019 Release ) ( 108.2 Proof )

J.W. Kelly Double Oaked Wine Finished Store Pick (114.08 Proof) Lebanon Wine and Spirits

One of the tasters was tasting blind. I was not. I allowed the other taster to give their input before giving mine. I agreed with all of their findings. The winner by a good margin was the Parker's Heritage. Even though this is a Rye, it was preferred over the other picks. In discussions, we feel this bottle is better than the Willet 4 Year Rye which is one of my favorites. However, at 3 - 4 times the cost of the Willet 4 Year, it should be better. Second was the George Dickel 15 Year. I really like this and at around 40 dollars was a great pick. My tasting buddy was quite surprised as he typically doesn't like George Dickel but this barrel is great. Third was the J.W. Kelly. A little oakey for his tastes but I do like. This bottle is a little different and with the Wine finish you gotta be willing to try something new. It is around 65 - 68 bucks. Fourth was the Maker's Mark RC6. It is smooth for the proof but just not a lot going on. If you like Maker's neat I can see you liking this. However, at 80 dollars retail not the best value.
