Battle of the Blantons

What a great tasting over text ( I know, again ) on Saturday night. Got my neighbor involved and the wife this time for some great bottles. Decided to explore Mash Bill #2 from Buffalo Trace. 3 different expressions of Blantons ( 1 regular, 2 store picks ) at 93 proof and Rock Hill Farms, which is Mash Bill #2 at 100 proof.

1) Blantons ( found on the shelf ) Dumped Date: 6/20/2019 Barrel No: 59, Warehouse H

2) Blantons Stones River Total Beverages 2019 Store Pick

3) Blantons Vintage Wine and Spirits 2019 Store Pick

4) Rock Hill Farms ( shelf ) purchased in 2020 100 proof

Since Blantons is single barrel, tastes can vary per barrel.

Conclusions:

All three ( neighbor, myself, and wife ) thought the Vintage pick was better than the other 2 Blantons bottles. Interestingly, thought the shelf pick was better than the Stones River Store Pick. All 3 were very good and we were nit picking but thought the Vintage just had everything. Comparing to the Rock Hill Farms, it won out among all 4. Hotter on the nose, as complete as the Vintage pick and smooth if not smoother than Vintage pick.

Overall, all 4 are great experiences and hard to be disappointed in any one. Wade and I have discussed extensively and will have a blog post at some point. If you like a brand and a store has a store pick, the store pick is probably better.
