around 50 dollars and as good as Blantons? Part 1

Dustin had found a vlogger that had compared 50 different bottles and settled on 6 different bottles he felt like were as good as Blantons and should be able to find on almost any store shelf. So, we figured we would try some of these bottles and see what's what. So, we got:

Blantons $63 ( Ha. Kuddos for you if you can find at this price )

Evan Williams Single Barrel $32

John J Bowman Single Barrel $51

Woodford Reserve Double Oaked $58

This was a tasting where we knew the bottles but not the order they would be in. For us the winner and a pretty darn good substitute for Blantons was the John J Bowman. This does make some sense as rumor has it the distillate is made at Buffalo Trace. Woodford Reserve Double Oaked we think is a good neat sipper and expensive but darn good mixer. Little different in style than the Blantons and JJB but good. Evan Williams SB for the price is probably the best value. at 32 bucks, it's a small step down from the other 3 but it's a baby step. Smells great and definitely punches above its price point. You could get two EW single barrel for the price of 1 Blantons at retail ( and close to WR double oaked ).

Overall, we agree that these 3 aren't Blantons but are good substitutes. If you're looking for the closes, the JJB Single Barrel is your boo. Stay tuned for Part 2 as we examine another 3 contenders!
